This results in the formation of three key research programmes fulfilling many fundamental elements of the offshore renewable energy industry and relevant technology developments. Research Hubs Our Research Hubs aim to build a stronger, complementary offering of academic research, innovation, demonstration and representative testing to the offshore renewables sector.
Renewable energy is generated from natural resources such as the sun, wind, and water, using technology which ensures that the energy stores are naturally replenished. Instead of buying all of your energy from suppliers, you can install renewables technology (also called micro generation and low-carbon technology) to generate your own.
A change in energy policy and recent developments in technology have prompted the emergence of micro-scale wind turbines and combined heat and power (CHP) systems. Micro generation is seen as a bold step towards decentralising power generation, reducing fuel poverty and increasing the percentage of power generated from renewable or low carbon sources.
Citizens need not only clean, but also affordable, secure and safe energy. Research and innovation are critical for delivering the solutions and system transformations. We must increase the efficiency of the whole renewable energy value chain, and integrate sustainability and circularity throughout it.
International Journal of Renewable Energy Research (IJRER) The International Journal of Renewable Energy Research (IJRER) is not a for profit organisation. IJRER is a quarterly published, open source journal and operates an online submission with the peer review system allowing authors to submit articles online and track their progress via its web interface.
